The Collect Call

See Collect Call Episodes

The Collect Call is a podcast that unpacks and reflects upon the meaning of the collect of the week – that prayer at the start of the service that changes every week. Hosts Brendan O’Sullivan-Hale and Holli Powell challenge themselves to learn a little about the history of the prayers, reflect on their spiritual meaning and application to daily life, and, inevitably, reduce them to tweets. The Collect Call is a founding member of the Via Media Collective.

  1. The phrase “renewed in the spirit of our minds” not only evokes Ephesians 4.20-24, but also Romans 12.2 – “Do not be conformed to this world[a] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (rsv) Never noticed the Ephesians reference before !

  2. I found your podcast on the GC78 wrap up to be very informative. I’m an Anglican priest currently serving in Canada , but I’m from Boston. I wonder how far the episcopal church wants to take racial reconciliation . When I see the larger episcopal church hiring people of Color as their lead priests I think we will be making progress .
