The Collect Call: for Holy Saturday

Holy Saturday is one of the more mysterious days of the Christian calendar, and the collect advises we respond by being as patient as a dead body. The Holy Saturday service isn’t often observed, but it’s only one page, so you can do it yourself at home if your church doesn’t offer it.

This is the third of our three special episodes about the collects for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, in addition to our regularly scheduled Palm Sunday and Easter shows. Stay tuned to iTunes, Stitcher, Soundcloud, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Today’s Prayer

O God, Creator of heaven and earth:  Grant that, as the crucified body of your dear Son was laid in the tomb and rested on this holy Sabbath, so we may await with him the coming of the third day, and rise with him to newness of life; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
