As the General Convention prepares to consider devoting further resources for planting churches, we talk to the Rev. Terri Bays about her experience re-planting a parish in a struggling neighborhood in South Bend, Indiana. Discussing the risks of planting a church, she says: “The life of faith is about what we say in the creeds and believing certain propositions, but even more so, it’s about taking those propositions and using them to do something that terrifies us. It means going out on all sorts of limbs.”

The Society of St. John the Evangelist is taking an innovative approach to prayer at General Convention, fusing prayers collected from on social media with the convention’s daily worship. We talk to Jamie Coats about how this all got started when SSJE’s brothers tried to figure out how they were going to offer spiritual formation during a temporary closure of their monastery.
