As the General Convention prepares to consider devoting further resources for planting churches, we talk to the Rev. Terri Bays about her experience re-planting a parish in a struggling neighborhood in South Bend, Indiana. Discussing the risks of planting a church, she says: “The life of faith is about what we say in the creeds and believing certain propositions, but even more so, it’s about taking those propositions and using them to do something that terrifies us. It means going out on all sorts of limbs.”
